Alliance Collection Agencies employees participate in fundraiser

Employees of Alliance Collection Agencies recently participated in the Stevens Point Area YMCA Lactic Edge Triathlon on July 10 at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point.

The goal for all simply was to complete the course, which consisted of a 500-yard swim, an 18-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run.
“I’m so proud of all of us that competed and completed the race,” said Scott Hopperdietzel, Alliance Collections director of client services.

An event like the Lactic Edge brings out participants as well as competitors. The winner of the Lactic Edge Triathlon posted a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes, 40.9 seconds and was not an Alliance Collections employee. Catherine Colyer came the closest with a time of 1:55::56.2, followed by Rochelle Hill with a time of 1:58:12.5.

“This has been a great experience. I enjoyed pushing myself to get in shape enough to compete in this event, and along the way, I got to know several colleagues better,” said Colyer, Alliance Collections corporate counsel and compliance officer. “Biking, swimming and running with people you normally just see at work definitely adds a new dimension to the relationship. You get to know each other a lot better by spending that out-of-work time together.”

More than 400 participants competed in the triathlon. There was a huge sense of personal pride and accomplishment as all athletes crossed the finish line. To add to that personal pride, the Alliance Collections team participated in this event as a fundraiser. Each team member solicited friends and family for monetary contributions, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Marshfield Area YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. This campaign, which runs on an annual basis, helps raise funds for scholarships and subsidies that stay in the Marshfield YMCA family, assisting people in the community who may want to participate but cannot for financial reasons.

“I’m proud to be able to participate and contribute towards an event where I not only accomplish a huge goal for myself, but also help kids on their way to accomplishing their fitness goals,” said Hill, marketing coordinator at Alliance Collections. “The YMCA provides a ton of wellness options for kids and their families, and with our team’s contributions, I hope a few more kids can participate in their desired fitness activity.”

More than $300 was raised by the Alliance Team.
“Not only was this a great way to raise money for a good cause, it gave not only myself a sense of accomplishment, but others in the community as well,” said Amy Woltmann, Alliance Collections account manager. “I am excited to participate in an event like this again.”
