FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) June 8, 2011 — June 8, 2011

Dorsey Thornton and Associates, a collections company, announces its first monthly Feed the Hungry Program. Dorsey Thornton and Associates will be holding a monthly food and care package event in downtown Atlanta for the homeless. The company is not currently looking for a permanent place to serve from, but is going to travel the streets of Atlanta and feed people living on the streets or in local shelters. This is going to be a true grass roots effort. The company is also reaching out to local churches of all denominations to help with the program to eventually bring it to a weekly event.

More information can be found online at http://www.dorseythornton.com

“Jesus had compassion for the poor and the hungry and he wants His people to do the same. Our response to His generosity is to reach out to help those that are disadvantaged and unable to help themselves. I understand that as a collection agency we are not seen always in a positive light and as a small business we suffer through the same tough economy like all Americans; however we should never compromise on helping the less fortunate. We will use volunteers from the company first and hopefully in time build relationships with local churches that can help weekly if not daily” Michael Thornton

If anyone wants to donate or join the cause please contact Michael Thornton at 404-935-9490 for more information.

Michael Thornton, 41, of Union City, pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to tax fraud, admitting he prepared numerous returns using fraudulent and misleading information. The deception included inflating incomes and lying about deductions to obtain higher refunds.

“This fraudster guaranteed large returns without seeing any information, filed returns without showing them to the taxpayers, failed to identify himself as the preparer on the returns, and had refund checks deposited in his personal bank account, all as part of a scheme to steal hundreds of thousands in illegitimate tax refunds,” said U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.

For the 2005 and 2006 tax years, Thornton filed more than 340 returns, claiming $1.8 million in false items and cheating the government out of nearly $320,000, federal authorities say. He charged between $150 and $650 for each return.

Thornton, who will be sentenced Sept. 6, faces a possible maximum sentence of three years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.

I don’t understand. The company is attempting to do something good for the community and this is all someone can write? God Bless.

If “doing something good” for the community is bilking the government, and ultimately, the tax payers, for over $300,000 fraudulently, then yes, Mr. Thornton is a saint. If they really wanted to do some good, they would cease to exist, as every place you look you find negative information and behavior from this company. They operate a shady business, and I myself have been wrongly accused and subsequently harassed by DTA.

Undoubtedly, their “charitable giving” is probably a scheme to find a way to further fraud the system.

Your life must really be horrible “Victim” Because at the end of the day there are thousands of homeless men, women, and children in Atlanta and the company feeding them doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Mr. Thornton’s problems. I am not sure but I think the masses would agree with me.

“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others,
    and you will be forgiven.”
