School District to Send Collection Agency After Writers of Bad Checks

The Elk River Area School District says it’s hired a collection agency to handle bad checks written for fees, school-related items and even lunches.

“Our school district, like many businesses, receives an increasing number of checks that are returned,” said the district in a statement on its website. “These checks cost our district money, take up staff time and can create discord between the district and parents.”

The district has hired eTech Transaction Solutions, Inc. to collect. eTech will charge a $20 fee for all checks returned.
